Start with a corridor. Finish with a clear plan.

Saudi Arabia rail travel

Choose the right Saudi railway, understand the stations, and plan tickets, schedules, luggage, and ground connections.

Start with the right railway

Saudi Arabia Railways identifies three main intercity passenger corridors in its official service overview: North, East, and Haramain. Choose the corridor first, then search the exact departure and arrival stations for your travel date. A national rail illustration is not evidence that every city has a direct train to every other city.

The North Train links Riyadh with stations toward Qurayyat. The East Train connects Riyadh East and Dammam. The Haramain High-Speed Railway serves the western corridor between Makkah and Madinah. Explore the passenger trains and high-speed services separately before joining any legs into a wider itinerary.

Plan the whole day

A useful journey has three parts: getting to the departure station, traveling by train, and continuing from the arrival station. Name the exact station in each transfer arrangement. Check entrances, baggage requirements, and the operator’s arrival instructions before deciding when to leave your accommodation.

For a connection to an airport or another separately booked service, do not compare only the displayed train and flight times. Include the station arrival process, ground transfer, terminal access, and the onward operator’s requirements. Choose a margin that fits the consequences of a missed connection.

Compare departures and tickets together

Use our schedule directory to find the right official tool. Search your station pair and actual date, then inspect the departure, arrival, stopping information, and available accommodation. A timetable is not a promise that seats remain available.

Next, review the ticket conditions: fare type, class, baggage, changes, cancellations, and any extras you need. The ticket guide explains the decisions to make before payment. SaudiRail.com does not sell tickets or handle reservations.

Make stations part of the plan

Use the station directory to orient yourself by corridor. A city name alone can be ambiguous, particularly when different railways serve different stations. Save the operator’s exact station name and location with your travel note.

Arrange the last part of the journey before departure. Check a local transport route or agree on a clear pickup point rather than assuming that arrival at the station means arrival at the destination. For Riyadh, investigate metro connections separately from the intercity booking.
